Breeding:
The Giant Panda breads well in the environment but, unfortunately does not do well in captivity. By the time a Giant Panda is 5 1/2 - 6 1/2 years old they are ready to start breeding. When the Giant Panda is ready to mate the male Giant Pandas will seek out a female who is currently in heat and then compete with other males to be able to breed with her. The breeding months are between March - May with the gestation period of the offspring ranging anywhere between 95 - 160 days before giving birth. In captivity the Giant Panda is more likely to give birth to twins, where in the wild they are more likely to give birth to one a single offspring. On average a Giant Panda will give birth to one offspring ever two years.

Adaptations the Giant Panda Has:
Like every animal the Giant Panda has well adapted to its environment. Some of these adaptations are how the panda sits upwards when it eats so their front hands are free, they also have a 6th toe that helps them grasp their bamboo. They also have very strong jaws for ripping pieces the bamboo off to be able to eat. Pandas have large, smooth molars in the back of their mouth for grinding the strong bamboo as well. Since the bamboo is very tough the pandas esophagus and stomach have a very strong lining so when they swallow the bamboo it wont rip or tear it. Lastly the pandas black and white coat is made out of wool so it keeps them very warm and dry in the cold winter conditions.

Adaptations the Giant Panda Should Have:
The Giant Panda after living in its environment for centuries already have many adaptations to be able survive in its habitat. In a forest the panda needs to be well suited to move around and find found making it need the ability move quickly. Another adaptation the panda needs is a warm fur coat so during the winter it can survive the snow and rugged terrain. Also, to survive the giant panda needs to have flat teeth to be able to eat the plant life such as bamboo. Since the reason the Giant Panda is going extinct is because of deforestation an adaptation the panda could have is to be able to live somewhere else besides the forest.
