Habitat Loss is not only a huge problem for the pandas it is a huge problem for many other species as well. Pandas are losing their homes for many reasons. Industrialization of the surrounding area plays the largest role as well as contributes to some of the other roles. Industrialization not only completely destroys habitats by ripping them down for building space, but it also pollutes the surrounding environment. Railroad tracks as well as normal streets and roadways cut off and segregate these panda populations from each other.

Hunted to Extinction?

Poachers have always been a problem for species that are in danger, and partially the poachers are why the species is endangered. In an article published by the New York Times China was said to arrest 203 panda poachers. 203! Hundreds if not thousands of pandas could have been killed by these poachers. In fact a study found that from poachers that had been caught in one year they killed as many as 500 animals. That is a little under 1/3 of the population of pandas surveyed in 2004. If all of the poachers' kills were pandas we would have already lost them.
